"Vacation, all I ever wanted"

As Erin mentioned in the (most excellent) previous post, we spent the Victoria Day long weekend on the Sunshine Coast, watching river otters from our oceanfront cabin, shopping in windy downtown Sechelt, and attending the Danger Bay 5 downhill longboard race in Madiera Bay. Molly adjusted well to having four adults and a dog to entertain her, and spent a ridiculous amount of the weekend giggling at Erin and Sheila. Sarah, in particular, had a much-deserved break from being the primary caregiver to Molly (but she was still head chef to her majesty at all hours of night and day, unfortunately!). All in all, it was a wicked weekend!

I really enjoy when other folks play with Molly, because I think that she can do so much more when they pass her back. Sarah and I probably get stuck in the same old games and routines, not realizing that Molly is ready to progress onto something new and different. For instance, after a weekend with Erin, Sheila and Jamie, Molly is making completely different sounds, can sit up straight, and is chatting away to herself much more of the time (I think it is safe to say that we can blame the latter on Erin!). Having friends with whom to share a baby for a weekend is pretty fabulous.

Anyway, I'll stop writing and post a few photos of our vacation, doing things like:
- Relaxing in the cabin;
- Eating fresh barbequed halibut on the deck, watching the sun set over the gravel conveyor belt (ok, so it wasn’t a five star resort or anything, but the conveyor belt was interesting too), and;
- Sarah breastfeeding with Sheila while watching longboarders fling themselves down the winding hill at up to 66 km/h.
