Hey, baby, what's your sign?

In the late eighties, our neighbour, Irene Grant, retired from her career at BC Ferries and purchased a computer. She embraced this technology, not to organize her finances or to write her memoirs, but to access astrology software. Using our birthdates and other relevant information, Irene printed out long star charts on her dot matrix printer, and related our destinies with passion. I don't really keep up with astrology (other than to have my coworker give me an astrological rating out of five from one of the free papers every once in a while), but omens and signs are much more tempting when you are waiting for a birth.

So...to pass the time this evening, Sarah was reading the horoscope in this week's Georgia Straight.

Taurus (Sarah)
"A series of openings appear and opportunities to truly be effective manifest themselves from February 23 to 24. These are special days, and special events will take place. Communication breakthroughs occur, and artistic and musical energies are enhanced."

Huh. That sounds good.

Gemini (Andrea)
"Expect that life will become much more demanding than usual as work output increases and you may be needed. Mars visits Gemini, giving you a well-deserved boost of energy and confidence over the next few weeks. Contentious issues must be resolved."

Excellent, good to be prepared. Who knew that astrology could be so precise?

OK, so if the baby is born before March 20 (uh, and I think it is safe to assume that will be the case), it will be a Pisces, the goat-creature thingy. So here is the baby's upcoming horoscope:

Pisces (Tanorthanaka Junior)
"The new moon on February 27 occurs in your sign, signalling a series of shocking or at least unusual events that may unfold over the next few weeks. The time is right to make revolutionary changes in your life. You may feel more alive than you have before, as new hopes and dreams awaken you to new realities."

There you go. According to Sarah's horoscope, today and Friday are looking good for a birth. The baby's horoscope appears to be ramping up for a February 27 birth date.
Appropriately, my horoscope suggests more work, and more energy to execute that work. Well, the stars seem to be all suited up and ready to dance.

Of course, the most accurate part of this week's horoscope is likely the introduction:

"The Pisces new moon on February 27 aligns with Uranus, and it tells of many strange things flying out of Pandora's box over the next month."

Here I am! A long-standing member of your adoring public... watching your blog most anxiously and eagerly. Thanks for the update, love the pictures!

Now, please tell Snorth to please, PLEASE, for the love of Mary and all things holy, give this baby up already!! Is she trying to avoid the troublesome early years and spawn this child directly into pre-kindergarten?!?!?!

[P.S. Dear Crown Prince, Is that you Michael? Hullo if so!]

No, no, we are working on straight to technical college. Haven't you heard that Vancouver is short of tradespeople? This kid will make a killing!

(Yes, Michael is the mysterious CP. He kindly comments occasionally so that I don't feel like I am talking to myself...)
